My Blog holds a variety of short posts on topics related to human behaviour with an emphasis on relationships and Mental Health. Most of my waking hours, I ponder how our behaviour affects the people around us and what we can do to redirect some of the hurt done to others based on insight, growth and healing. Since I was a child, I was fascinated by human behaviour as it elicited such strong emotions in me. I learnt most from observing others in different environments and I make sense of the ambiguities through learning rather than assuming, trying not to be guided by bias and identifying and challenging my preconceived ideas. After this introduction, it might not come as a surprise to anyone that I did an extended major in psychology for my undergraduate degree. While working in the mental health field I finished a master's and Ph.D. in psychology of which most courses were in clinical & counselling psychology. I am an advocate for promoting good research based on the scientific model and can be quite outspoken when I detect that the practice of marketing products (medications and therapy approaches) based on poor research is unquestioned, condoned and allowed. There is always hope and we can find that in ourselves. My mantra is to focus on our values, live according to them, be assertive in a respectful way and have strong boundaries.
